Meet the Team
Barry Hartmann
FounderBehind every rescue dog is someone willing to answer the late-night calls, make the long transports, clean kennels after exhausting workdays, and continue showing up even when the work is hard.
Our founder works tirelessly day and night to ensure every dog in our care is safe, fed, medically treated, and given the opportunity for a better life. While balancing a full-time job and everyday responsibilities, his commitment to rescue never stops. From coordinating fosters and transports to comforting scared dogs and advocating for those on euthanasia lists, rescue is not just a hobby, it is a calling rooted in compassion.
Like many in rescue, his journey began with seeing the overwhelming number of animals being abandoned, neglected, or euthanized simply because there were not enough homes or resources. What started as helping one dog quickly became a mission to fight for the underdogs that others overlooked.
At the heart of this rescue is the belief that every animal deserves safety, love, patience, and a second chance. The work is not always easy, but seeing a once-forgotten dog finally experience comfort and a forever home makes every sacrifice worth it.
Brittanie Thebeau
Foster and Adoption CoordinatorAnimals have always held a special place in Brittanie’s heart, and her passion for rescue extends far beyond finding dogs homes. As the Foster and Adoption Coordinator for Loving Paws of the South, she works behind the scenes every day helping ensure dogs receive the love, advocacy, and opportunities they deserve.
From coordinating fosters and speaking with adopters to organizing adoption events and networking within the community, Brittanie helps connect dogs with safe and loving homes. She also manages many of the administrative tasks that keep rescue moving forward, including communication, outreach, event planning, and helping educate the public about responsible pet ownership and the ongoing shelter crisis.
Her passion for rescue comes from believing that every dog deserves patience, compassion, and a chance to feel safe. Whether she is comforting a scared rescue dog, advocating for dogs on euthanasia lists, helping families find the right match, or building relationships with community partners, her goal is always the same: giving animals the second chance they deserve.
For Brittanie, rescue is not just volunteering, it is about creating hope, healing, and a better future for dogs who may have never experienced love before.
